Catie’s American Microphone Interview
Our friend, Rob Millis, has posted a video interview with Catie at his online production group called American Microphone. I saw Catie announce this on her own site…you should most definitely check it out…just click the mic below!

But before I get into anything about the interview, I’ve gotta rib our friend Rob a bit. You might remember him…the producer of the “perpetually forthcoming documentary, Tangled Stories.” His words, not mine! Yeah, Rob…we’d love to see it before Lucy hits puberty!
First, when you open the video…’have patience’…I’m on a T1 and it took forever to load for me the first time, but it’s worth the wait. I’ve got a crappy monitor, so it’s a bit dark too, but I can see Catie decked out in her “Love” shirt as she talks about all kinds of topics…the new CD, Katrina, filming the People Look Around video, politics, songwriting, parenting, and her conversion to optimism.
One of my favorite segments is when Rob asks if she feels that singing from a particular political perspective is “preaching to the choir” or if there is the ability to actually change peoples’ minds. She talks about how more well known folks walk and talk rather delicately around various sensitive issues because they’ve got a lot to lose, whereas being a bit more under the radar, she’s got the ability to speak “really honestly and openly” about what she thinks without the same fears because much of her fan base is “longing to hear some straight talk about these things.” Probably my favorite quote is when Catie talks about playing in conservative areas she says, “You know, we can call it preaching to the choir, but I also feel like I’m nurturing the choir. I’m giving them a little love.”
It’s a great conversation, do go watch!!
