Dang...feel like I've lost a little touch with the IGs.  Been to shows lately when I can, but didn't know they had a new CD coming...not on any of their lists or anything.  I spend too much time on the computer as it is!   Roll Eyes Grin

I'll keep an eye out for it...what's the pre-word about it?

I did see that they'll be here in SF at the Warfield on 11/8 & 9...the nights after Catie's last gig...whew! Grin  Tix don't seem to be on sale yet...I'll be watching.

Hmmm...not sure what I think.  When I can tear myself away from LNM (which is not very often) I have been listening to the new CD.  I like it and comparing it to almost anything played on mainstream radio, it is, of course, brilliant.  However, I think it marks a turn for IG.  There is less of the beautiful harmonizing we are all so used to.  The Amy songs mostly sound like stuff from her solo albums.  "Rock and Roll Heaven's Gate" has Pink singing backup and I have trouble hearing any bit of Emily on it.  I'm not sure she is actually singing on this song.  The Emily songs are mostly upbeat.  There is not a single song on here that is a classic Emily heartbreaking, tearjerker or pure love song (i.e. "Power of Two," "Language or the Kiss," "Ghost," etc.).  So they have taken some turns and they have every right, but this one is taking a little getting used to.  That's alright.  It took me a while to get into Catie's MSLGOY and now it is a favorite and gets as many plays as the rest of her CDs.  I would definitely buy this CD, but be prepared for a departure from the girls.

Still haven't bought the CD, but did listen to a friend's...haven't listened enough to have an opinion yet.

But I was at their show at the Warfield on the 9th.  It was a great show, but it was really mixed with old and new...didn't focus quite as much as I thought it would with the new stuff.  Yes...they played several, but I guess it's not an IG gig without a healthy serving of the fan faves and "classic IG" songs.  I most certainly do not remember the set list here...but I did walk out with one of the guitar picks this time!  Could have had the bass player's set list...but there was another gal who didn't quite catch it before I did that REALLY wanted it, I could tell.  Me catching it was more of an accident anyway...I'm tall, so I gave it to her.

Bitch and the Exciting Conclusion opened...and she was a lot of fun.  I hadn't seen her perform before either, but I've heard lots and lots about her.  In particular from my friend Chewy who has become friends with her while working for many years at the Michigan Women's Festival (who has still yet been able to get me there as a festie!) She's also who got me tix to the show and was standing against the stage at stage left...taking copious unofficial phone pictures!  Cheesy All I'm gonna say is that "Pussy Manifesto" was a particular hit with my group of friends!  Wink

Trina Mead and Tomi Martin from Three5Human came in late to sing Midnight Train to Georgia and a couple others with the Girls...with Bitch backing up some too. They opened for IGs last time I saw a show and were really good...nice to see them again.
